(Schwandorf, Germany) manufactures, develops and distributes highly specialized products based on aluminum hydroxide and aluminum oxide. The company’s product range includes halogen-free flame-retardant fillers and eco-friendly additives for various industries.
Flame-retardant fillers are commonly used in the adhesives, composites, coatings, electronic devices, rubber, and wire and cable markets, to name a few. Nabaltec also produces specialty oxides for use in technical ceramics, as well as the refractory and polishing industry.
The company’s North American business unit, Nabaltec USA, has manufacturing operations located in Corpus Christi, Texas (Nashtec LLC) and Chattanooga, Tennessee (Naprotec LLC).
Naprotec LLC is a large-capacity plant dedicated to the production of a wide range of alumina trihydrate (ATH) based flame retardants. Naprotec products include standard ground particle distributions, silane surface modified grades and enhanced- or optimized-viscosity ATH products.
Naprotec’s ATH-based products reportedly serve as multifunctional flame retardants and smoke suppressing extenders in a wide range of applications, like thermosets, thermoplastics, rubber, adhesives, sealants and coatings. The division manufactures Apyral ground hydrates, Apyral mixed hydrates and Apyral surface-treated hydrates.
According to the company, the ground hydrates come in a wide range of particle sizes; the mixed hydrates are formulated to achieve very high loading levels by minimizing viscosity increase; and the surface-treated hydrates offer surface-tailored reactive, non-reactive, hydrophilic and hydrophobic options.
