Advanced wind technologies company (Navarra, Spain) reports it has developed the first commercial Nabrajoint modular blade for a top five wind turbine OEM. The agreement reached between both companies will include the development, testing and manufacture of the technology, and is expected to be finished by fourth quarter 2020. Commercial manufacturing is expected to begin by 2021.
Nabrajoint is a joint for modular blades that reportedly requires a minimum number of inserts and simplifies difficult site logistics. Applicable to existing or new wind turbine blades, including blade lengths that exceed 80 meters, Nabrajoint enables companies to manufacturer blades in two or more parts, transport them separately and then assemble them onsite. Once there, the company notes its XPACER aids in preloading the bolts for further efficiency.
“[We] are proud of reaching this agreement with one of the main leaders in the market and [are] convinced that it will also help to accelerate customer demand and the viability of wind farms installing blades over 80 meters,” says Eneko Sanz, founder and CEO of Nabrawind.
