(Blountville, Tenn., U.S.) develops, designs and constructs cutting machinery and corresponding data software for clothing, furniture, automotive, construction, boat industry and railway industries. Solutions to be highlighted at CAMX include the company’s single-ply cutter series and Pattern Designer software solution.

The “Cutty” series is Kuris’ fourth generation of machining equipment that has been revamped and optimized. The cutter achieves positioning speeds of up to 100 m/min and, depending on the type of material, up to 70 m/min. It is equipped with Multiflex tool adaptation and an individually optimized cutting head with a programmable Z-axis. As well as offering very short plunge times, a toolchange system is said to reduce setup times considerably because fewer adjustment operations are required.

Materials include foam, carbon fiber, ballistic materials, Dyneema, prepreg, aramids, glass fabric, cloth, wood and other technical materials can be cut using Kuris’ single- and multi-ply equipment.

Another cutting range, TexCut can process textile packages which are up to 100 mm high. The height depends on the material and level of precision required.

Kuris’ design and pattern software, Pattern Designer, reads and writes pattern files for major manufacturers. It features design functions like reversible folds and darts, automatic and interactive seam allowance creation, automatic notch translation and an all-sizes dimension watcher, to ensure quick and accurate pattern design.

Automatic and interactive grading functions enable previous sessions to be stored in grading rules and easily applied to new products. Kuris Pattern Designer is based on Bezier curves, but can also handle complex polylines or B-Spline Curves. The KPD’s interface has a very different approach compared to other CAD applications, Kuris says — it’s built to be user friendly, according to the latest software standards. KPD comes as standards with a built-in convertor for Gerber, Assyst and Lectra native files and also for DXF-AAMA import and export.
