Century Tool expands large composites mold capacity
The company’s new horizontal milling machine is reportedly capable of producing larger molds for compression molding a variety of composite materials.
Th new machine is an upgrade to one of Century’s two existing FTP 4-axis machining centers in its facility. The company provides compression molds for processes that use sheet molded compounds (SMC), bulk molded compounds (BMC), direct long fiber thermoplastics (D-LFT), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), resin transfer molding (RTM) and carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP).
