Scott Bader is launching two products at JEC World 2019: the Crestafire intumescent FST system and Crestapol 1270, a new premium urethane acrylate resin for sheet molding compound (SMC) and bulk molding compound (BMC). From the Scott Bader booth, M27 in Hall 6, it will also be introducing Crestamould, a new brand for the company’s matched tooling systems.
Scott Bader is adding an intumescent FST system to the Crestafire FST range that was launched at JEC World 2018. The new Crestafire system is said to have EN45545-2 and HL2 (R1) approval, ensuring it meets the stringent fire requirements for the rail industry. Neil Gray, global market manager of FST performance products, will be making a presentation about
the new system at the JEC World “Composites in Action” conference, on March 13.
Crestapol 1270 is a premium urethane acrylate resin added this year to the Crestapol resin range for producing tough, lightweight CFRP components. Crestapol 1270 is designed specifically for SMCs and BMCs.
Other products and services on display include the company’s Crystic Ecogel ultra-low styrene spray gelcoats, including the “zero” styrene Ecogel S0 PA grade; Crestomer, Crestabond and Crestafix structural adhesives and bonding pastes; and the company’s rapid GelTint service for mixing gelcoats in a range of RAL, BS, NCS and custom colors.
Visitors to the stand will also have the opportunity to see a Cobra Shelby supercar from South African company Backdraft Racing, owned by former racing driver Tony Martin. The Cobras’ composite car bodies are said to be completely built using Scott Bader resins, gelcoats and adhesive systems.
