(Rotterdam, Netherlands) an innovation-driven engineering and design firm, has taken a step forward in its advanced manufacturing capabilities with the recent installation of a hybrid 3D printer from CEAD B.V. (Delft, Netherlands) at its Arnhem facility. This investment marks a strategic move to expand the company’s offerings — in moldmaking, tooling and producing end-use parts with tight tolerances — and better serve customers working in high-performance, design-forward industries.
Founded with a mission to bring creativity, technical precision and rapid production under one roof, RAW Idea specializes in digital manufacturing, prototyping and small-run production for clients across marine, automotive, consumer products and industrial design. The new hybrid 3D printer—combining additive and subtractive processes — enables the company to manufacture complex, high-strength fiber-reinforced composite parts with greater efficiency, precision and material flexibility.
RAW Idea has already successfully printed full-scale boats using recycled materials — a clear demonstration of both the printer’s capabilities and the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in digital fabrication.
“This investment represents a pivotal moment for RAW Idea as we deepen our commitment to the composites industry,” says Joyce Pont, managing director at RAW Idea. “The hybrid 3D printer not only enhances our ability to manufacture stronger, lighter components, but also aligns with our vision of a fully digital manufacturing process — where speed, design freedom and material innovation come together.”
The system significantly broadens RAW Idea’s ability to work with continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastics and other advanced composites, enabling production of lightweight, high-performance parts for demanding environments. These capabilities are particularly valuable for industries like marine, where material performance and durability are critical.
With this investment, RAW Idea continues to build on its strategy of integrating cutting-edge digital technologies to streamline workflows, reduce lead times, and offer more sustainable, scalable production solutions.
