Great Haywood Marina reconstructed with Dura Composites fiberglass decking
Latest Lakeland Leisure Estates project saw design, supply and installation of 10,000 square meters of durable, long-lasting Dura Composites Mini Mesh Grating.

In its latest project, in partnership with longstanding collaborator Lakeland Leisure Estates, Dura Composites (Essex, U.K.) has replaced the decking at Great Haywood Marina in the U.K. with a glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) alternative. This latest completion marks more than 10,000 square meters of Dura Composites Mini Mesh Grating successfully designed, supplied and installed.
Great Haywood Marina is owned and managed by Lakeland Leisure and was in need of an upgrade in autumn 2022. Degrading to the timber deck had occurred, and it was in need of a much longer-lasting replacement. Having previously worked together on many projects, the client knew that Dura Composites’ GRP Mini Mesh was an ideal solution offering non-corrosion, non-conductive and anti-slip properties that far superseded the previous failing timber.
Particularly appealing for Great Haywood was the non-conductive element of Dura Composites’ GRP grating, as each of their moorings comes with a 16-amp electricity supply; in this way, moorers can feel safer knowing their jetty covering can not pass electricity through it.
The Mini Mesh Grating promises to be a fire-rated and low-maintenance product, ensuring the safety and longevity of the marina. Moreover, working once again with partners Shoredeck, Dura Composites says it was able to offer the full turnkey solution of design, supply and install, saving valuable time and money for this project.

Great Haywood Marina is one of a number of projects Dura Composites has completed so far this year with Lakeland Leisure, with recent installations at Barton, Saul Junction and Tattenhall Marinas.
Additional GFRP installations by Dura Composites also include the Shepperton Marina.
