Midnight is the evolution of Archer’s demonstrator eVTOL aircraft, Maker, which has validated its proprietary 12-tilt-six configuration and key enabling technologies.

Midnight will enable perform critical “company testing” to accelerate and reduce risk on Archer’s certification program, following a successful two-year flight test campaign with Maker.

Proprietary battery pack design integrated into a composite battery enclosure passed extreme impact scenario simulations, setting the stage for upcoming for-credit testing with the FAA.

This is Archer’s second full-scale eVTOL aircraft to achieve this milestone, critical to being able to carry commercially viable passenger payloads.

With its upcoming unveiling of the composite Midnight eVTOL, Archer Aviation forecasts a rapid production ramp-up in the following years.

This initial project under the Space Act Agreement is focused on studying and developing high-performance battery cells, as well as performing safety testing, to achieve purpose-built solutions for electric aircraft.

Archer plans to initially build out a 350,000-square-foot facility capable of producing up to 650 aircraft/year, with room to expand up to 2,300 aircraft/year.

Midnight aircraft will provide an opportunity to streamline everyday urban congestion challenges, in addition to other use cases.

Archer completes the second of three key flight test phases, demonstrating takeoff and landing robustness of its Maker aircraft. The company now moves on to the third phase toward full transition.

Archer is conducting multiple tests weekly as it progresses through the composite-intensive Maker’s flight test campaign.
