Automation and digitalization company Siemens Digital Industries Software (Plano, Texas, U.S.) unveiled its Teamcenter X software, a product lifecycle management (PLM) software solution, with a new software as a service (SaaS) extension added to the company’s Xcelerator portfolio. Siemens says the technology enables companies of all sizes to quickly implement, scale and integrate PLM technology, and offers the convenience of choosing from pre-configured solutions such as Engineering Change and Release Management to enable individuals to work more efficiently. The technology reportedly also leverages a modern cloud platform to reduce time-to-market, connects distributed, cross-disciplinary teams and improves efficiency and effectiveness, all to better streamline product development.
According to Siemens, companies can easily connect PLM with familiar applications for secure collaboration across the enterprise, and functional domains. With an open multi-CAD approach and integrations to software tools, such as NX software and Solid Edge software for mechanical computer-aided design (CAD), Mentor software for electronic CAD and Polarion X software for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Siemens notes Teamcenter X creates a multi-domain bill of materials (BOM) to provide visibility to the complete digital twin, including mechanical, electrical and software components. Further, its establishment on a Mendix software application platform allows integration of Teamcenter X’s knowledge across the enterprise.
