Custom Polymer Designs (CPD), an (St. Paul, Minn., U.S.) marine industry brand, for infusion projects, tooling and more, is featuring its CPD 2110A/9234B solutions in the Composites One and Closed Mold Alliance Demo Zone. Look for the daily demonstration schedule listings to see it in action. Polytek-brand tooling board will also be featured.
CPD 2110A resin with CPD 9234B hardener is a long pot life, clear, low-viscosity, epoxy compound developed for infusion and resin transfer molding (RTM). The system is said to have high physical properties — tensile strength, compressive strength and flexural modulus — and processing proficiencies, with a simple 3:1 by volume mix ratio. It requires a post-cure for use at elevated temperatures and features a long gel time. According to CPD, the system has an HDT of 284ºF after post-cure, making it well-suited for composite tooling and high-service temperature finished parts. Its low viscosity — 300 centipoise initial mixed viscosity — is ideal for infusion. CPD 2110A/9234B maintains a light, clear amber color that is able to show off carbon fiber or can be painted to any finish desired on finished parts. Its low shrinkage enables complex parts with tight tolerances to be made, alongside a preferred fabric, carbon or fiberglass.
CPD offers a wide range of epoxy systems that are suited for advanced composites in sports and recreation, marine, aerospace, cured-in-place pipe, infrastructure repair, general industrial and other markets. CPD also offers specialized systems for infusion, injection, hand layup, press molding, filament winding and adhesive applications. Other products meet high-temperature needs, long open time, snap-cure systems, bio-based resin systems and other unique products.
