With the introduction of robotic sealing for a wide range of components, and cobot sealing for increased flexibility, Broetje-Automation (Rastede, Germany) presents high-tech sealing processes for the aerospace industry. These advanced automation solutions, which cover a wide range of metallic and composite materials, are reported to reduce process steps, labor hours and costs, while ensuring reliable, high-quality sealing and waste reduction, thus resulting in improved efficiency and productivity.
Broetje-Automation’s sealing technology is modularly designed. It covers multiple sealing types — such as edge, fillet or fastener sealing. The flexible system can be tailored to individual process requirements, the company says. A successful implementation of polysulfide material sealing is already in operation at a customer site. Broetje-Automation also showcased its latest sealing developments for aerospace at this year’s JEC World and the Paris Airshow. The sealing cobot, in a standard configuration, included a movable platform (AGV), a Universal Robots (Boston, Mass., U.S.) collaborative robot (cobot) and the lightweight, lean sealing end effector from Broetje-Automation. It demonstrated the edge sealing process for a composite aerospace part using this platform.
The company’s industrial sealing automation solutions meet various requirements whether implemented on assembly lines as stationary robots, mobile robots on platforms or cobots. The ability to handle different pin and collar sizes facilitates flexible adaptation to production conditions and reduces rejects by evenly applying high-quality seal beads.
The fully automated robotic sealing system, for example, combines robotic precision with the capability to handle complex sealing tasks on large components, making it ideal for manufacturing operations with substantial sealing requirements. Broetje-Automation also offers semi-automated cobot sealing, providing operational flexibility and efficiency for smaller sealing tasks that demand agility and adaptability.
