Nèos International establishes new HQ, composites facility in the U.K.

The 60,000-square-foot plant in Derby, U.K., will be the centerpiece of the Nèos Composites subsidiary and provide a new headquarters for the larger Nèos International.

Engineering and manufacturing specialist (Derby, U.K.) reported on June 21 that, after spending considerable time looking for a new headquarters in the U.K., it found a location in a state-of-the-art composites manufacturing facility in the city of Derby.

The 60,000-square-foot facility was purpose-built for the development and manufacture of composite parts and structures and features autoclaves, CNC machines, automated cutting tables and cleanrooms. It will become the centerpiece of the Nèos Composites subsidiary, and also serve as the headquarters for the entire Nèos International company, which has expertise in a variety of manufacturing materials and processes.

Carl Roberts, CEO of Nèos International, says the company’s plan is to leverage the new space and grow the current customer base across multiple industries. The company is already engaged in growth sectors, such as F1, motorsport, aerospace, defense, rail and space programs. Over the next two years Nèos expects to generate annual revenues of £20 million from the new facility while also supporting other group companies such as Nèos Automation, Nèos Technologies and Nèos Tooling Solutions.

The group says it expects to employ a growing number of local people, either directly or within its extended supply chains, with up to 150 direct positions developed over the next two years at the site.

Tim Wybrow, managing director of Nèos Composites, says, “We are are breathing new life into a state-of-art facility that is crying out for new work and activity. We expect to attract interest from a much broader group of customers, drawing on Nèos’ strong portfolio of customers.”

Derby itself has a long history as an engineering and manufacturing focal point for the U.K., and is also home to many of Nèos’ current customers, including Alstrom and Rolls-Royce. Nèos expects to build on these strengths to stimulate new business at the plant. The company also plans, through existing and new relationships, to engage with local academic institutions, such as Derby University and Derby College, to access cutting-edge research, development facilities and collaborative programs.

Roberts notes that Derby has long been heralded as an engineering and manufacturing powerhouse — from early developments in steel, to the latest in safety-critical systems for aerospace, Derby has a rich history in delivering engineering excellence. The city itself is famous for the aerospace and rail heritage, but this belies the scope of opportunity that such a well-located city can offer. Many of our customers and the sectors we serve are represented within Derby city or the wider county. From aerospace, to automotive and from nuclear to infrastructure, you can find all these sectors represented within Derby.

With the addition of the Derby facility, Nèos International now has 180,000 square feet of manufacturing space in the U.K. The company also has a presence in Portugal and India. Its subsidiaries are Nèos Automation, Neos Automotive, Neos Composites, Neos Consultancy, Neos Nuclear, Neos Technologies, Neos Tooling and Neos Titomic.
