Competition Composites Inc. installs large 5-axis CNC milling machine
New 5-axis CNC milling machine to enhance Competition Composites Inc.'s capabilities on larger composite tooling projects and one-off fabrications.
Fiberglass and carbon fiber composite product manufacturer Competition Composites Inc. (CCI, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada), has announced the installation of a large 5-Axis CNC milling machine.
The new milling machine, a custom assembly by Mechatronic Design Solutions Inc. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), has a working envelope of 5m x 2m x 1.5m and can shape most non-metallic materials. It complements CCI’s two pre-existing 3-Axis milling machines.
CCI says that while the investment is primarily intended to enhance the company’s capabilities on larger composite tooling projects and one-off fabrications in its core business, the machine will also be an asset for customers in the area with a need to outsource large 3D milling projects. The company says it has also purchased a 3D Scanner for First Article verification.
