The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo (CAMX), a collaborative effort by the American Composites Manufacturers Assn. (ACMA, Arlington, Va., U.S.) and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE, Diamond Bar, Calif., U.S.), marked a historic milestone as it convened the global composites and advanced materials community at Atlanta's Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) this year in October. With a record-breaking 525 exhibitors, complemented by the largest-ever exhibit hall spanning more than 130,000 square feet, this edition of CAMX boasted the most significant exhibitor turnout in its storied history.
Attendee turnout reached 5,700 visitors. At the show, 61 countries were represented, with 125 total technical presentations (technical, educational and featured sessions/panels) and 42 posters on display. CW provided a day-to-day rundown of award announcements, technology/service highlights and more through CAMX’s distributed Show Dailies (see Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s here).
Eric Smith, CAMX chair, comments on the event’s success, stating, “This year’s CAMX not only featured the highest number of exhibitors but also showcased an awe-inspiring show floor with an abundance of cutting-edge machinery and live demonstrations. The return of the popular poster session set a new record with an impressive 42 submissions, surpassing our usual annual average of 16 to 20.”
The event kicked off with an inspirational general session keynote by Joan Higginbotham, a astronaut known for her groundbreaking career, which encompassed navigating high-stakes situations, championing social impact and fostering a passion for personal growth and limitless possibilities. Later in the week, Jeff Sloan, publisher and former editor-in-chief of CW, provided a unique perspective on the evolving landscape of the composites industry.
CAMX 2024 will be at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, from Sept. 9-12.
