The composite eVTOL developer has now received two key operational certificates required from the FAA to begin operations when Midnight receives type certification.

Advancing through a third of the program in just three months, Archer continues to make rapid progress toward planned full wing-borne transition flight in Phase 2.

Archer Aviation’s intentional strategies have yielded a simpler and more focused scope of certification work, paving the way for the start of its first “for credit” testing by early 2024.

Following Midnight’s recent flight test milestone, the automaker’s strategic funding agreement buildings on $39 million worth of Archer stock and $110 million investment in 2023.

The milestone builds on 4 years of flight testing, including 2 years of full-scale flight testing of Archer’s Maker aircraft.

Midnight aircraft will provide an opportunity to streamline everyday urban congestion challenges, in addition to other use cases.

All major aerostructures and systems have been built and installed to begin pilot flight test operations with the conforming composite aircraft in early 2024.

Stellantis is to contribute advanced manufacturing technology and expertise, experienced personnel and capital, in addition to help stand up Archer’s new composites manufacturing facility, with the ultimate goal of becoming Archer’s exclusive contract manufacturer.

An agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office will see Archer’s Midnight eVTOL aircraft service operating in the UAE by 2026, as well as establishment of an international facility and headquarters.

Landmark investment in eVTOL technology by U.S. military is part of the next phase in partnership between Archer and AFWERX program.
