Mako, PTM&W Industries launch HyperCure composite systems

As the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) accelerates its investment in unmanned aerial systems (UAS),  (Henderson, Nev., U.S.) and  (Santa Fe Springs, Calif., U.S.) is introducing Makobond HyperCure resin and adhesive systems for composites designed for speed, strength, and scale.

Makobond HyperCure, alongside PTM&W’s aerospace-grade resins, are reported to significantly reduce composite curing times — from hours to minutes — while maintaining the mechanical strength, thermal stability and toughness demanded in modern unmanned flight. Dr. Johnny Lincoln, Ph.D., president of Mako says that HyperCure materials give manufacturers a direct path to faster builds, lower costs and full Blue List compliance, the latter ensuring streamlined certification and eliminating overseas sourcing risks.

HyperCure P-2244 prepreg systems press-cure in as little as 5 minutes at 300°F, cutting production cycle times and reducing energy costs. Other common cure methods are easily adapted. Their out-of-autoclave compatibility enables field repairs and reduces reliance on specialized tooling. Custom formulation and rapid material placement is another advantage for UAS manufacturers, the companies note; through Mako, the team develops short-lead time domestic equivalents to long-lead time and imported materials.

PTM&W complements Mako’s HyperCure technology with a full range of structural adhesives, infusion resins, filament winding systems and high-temperature laminating resins — each fully traceable, compliant with defense regulations and engineered for efficiency in high-volume production environments.
