Digital fabricator Symmetrix Composite Tooling Inc. (Bristol, R.I., U.S.) is presenting its soft, composite tooling serving industries such as alternative energy, transportation, marine, art and architecture, aerospace and communication. Symmetrix says it fabricates high-performing molds, patterns and prototype models quickly and precisely in its 5-axis CNC machining centers. Symmetrix emphasizes its experienced engineering and production teams, which plan, fabricate, finish, polish, and adjust every detail throughout the building process for composite forms, molds, prototypes and plugs.

Symmetrix says its large-format CNC machining is made possible by three CMS 5-axis machining centers, two 26-m-long Poseidon models and one 6-m Ares, used with Siemens NX12 CAD/CAM software. The company’s machining centers are certified to an overall volumetric tolerance of 0.1 mm, or 0.004", and Symmetrix says it will maintain tolerances within millimeters for applications ranging from curved composite roof columns, to an America’s Cup yacht to a 60-m wind turbine blade.
In addition, the company operates Centers for Composite Innovation in Rhode Island, North Carolina and Nevada. Each location is equipped with climate-controlled spray booths and an extensive array of pattern and tool making essentials and post curing equipment.
Symmetrix also offers geometry verification with CCM-metrology capability, customer specific project management, confidentiality and IP protection.
