Potential buyer of three EADS plants in Germany pulls plug
Forbes.com reports that a suitor for three EADS plants in Germany has bowed out, citing a breakdown in talks with Airbus.
According to a Nov. 15 story on Forbes.com, Voith (Hamburg, Germany), the German machinery company, said it quit the bidding process for three plants of EADS’s Airbus unit as the plane-maker declined to enter a long-term cooperation to run the plants, chief executive Hermut Kormann said.
He told an interviewer that Airbus wanted to sell off its plants at Nordenham, Varel and Augsburg quickly and completely, while Voith was interested in operating them with Airbus.
He said Airbus was not willing to agree on a cooperation for longer than two or three years.
