The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE, Danbury, Conn., U.S.) Thermoforming Division has announced a call for entries in its biennial Parts Competition, including a new category that will feature innovations in thermoforming parts used in assemblies. The submission deadline is May 5, 2025.
Competition entries will be displayed on the exhibit hall floor during the 30th SPE Thermoforming Conference, which will be held May 19-21 at the Cobb Galleria and Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Awards for winning parts will be presented during the SPE Thermoforming Awards Dinner on May 20 at the hotel.
Competition entrants may submit parts in six categories:
- Roll-fed categories are industrial, medical or food.
- Heavy-gauge categories are vacuum form, pressure form and twin sheet.
- Production parts from 3D printed tooling.
- Sustainable thermoforming.
- Parts produced for electric vehicle and battery applications.
- Thermoforming parts used in assemblies [NEW].
“Customer needs have evolved and thermoformed parts have evolved along with them,” says Travis Kieffer, 2025 SPE Thermoforming Conference Parts Competition chair. “We are seeing plastic parts in tighter tolerance assemblies. These parts typically mate with other parts made from different processes and may include features such as screens, electrical components and attachment points, for example. Parts have more complex assemblies designed to add value to the customer, but they often present challenges. We want to help companies showcase their achievements during our conference.”
Guidelines for competition entrants and the required product entry form are posted . All product images and descriptions must be emailed to Travis Kieffer at travisk@plasticsunlimited.com by the deadline.
