IACMI names education and workforce director

Andrew Pokelwaldt, IACMI director of education and workforce.
IACMI – The Composites Institute has named Andrew Pokelwaldt as its new director of education and workforce. In this role, Pokelwaldt will lead IACMI’s education and workforce team, overseeing strategic planning and the execution of key initiatives and programs.
“Andrew is an excellent addition to the IACMI team,” says Chad Duty, IACMI CEO. “Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in shaping manufacturing talent to align with industry needs. His leadership in manufacturing, deep expertise in composites, and extensive experience in workforce training and certification will play a key role in advancing IACMI’s mission to developing a highly skilled, advanced manufacturing workforce.”
Duty adds that IACMI is committed to strengthening the advanced manufacturing workforce by equipping individuals with the skills needed to succeed, broadening access to career pathways and sparking interest in advanced manufacturing careers to drive continued industry growth.
Pokelwaldt brings extensive experience to IACMI in workforce development and training, including Composites Instruction Credentials (CCT-I), marine manufacturing and composites manufacturing technical writing. He previously served as director of workforce training and credentialing at the American Composites Manufacturing Association (ACMA) and as training and development manager at Brunswick Recreational Boat Group in Knoxville. Most recently, he was the corporate technical training manager at Newell Brands in Maryville, where he oversaw workforce programs across the U.S., Europe and Latin America.
Pokelwaldt holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In addition to his civilian career, he is a former dual-career retired military veteran, having served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army.

IACMI member representatives selected to serve on Consortium Council
IACMI has announced the newly elected representatives who will serve 2-year terms (2025-2026) on the IACMI Consortium Council. Additionally, the organization welcomes Erin Barnes as the newest council member, representing Northrop Grumman, IACMI’s latest Premium Member.
The council plays a vital role in guiding the IACMI Consortium, overseeing strategic planning, annual budgets, technical initiatives, projects and management practices.
- SME Representative: Kevin Line, VP of manufacturing, Rise Building Products
- Large Entity Representative: Mike Siwajek, VP of research and development, Teijin Automotive Technologies
- State/National Lab/Academia Representative: Derek Berry, senior wind technology engineer, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
- New Premium Member: Eric Barnes, Northrop Grumman Fellow, Northrop Grumman.
Line replaces Mito Material Solutions CEO Haley Marie Keith as SME representative. Berry replaces ORNL chief manufacturing officer Craig Blue as state/national lab/academia representative. Siwajek replaces John Pruett, director of sales and business development at Hexcel Corp. as large entity representative.
Elections were held throughout the month of January, giving IACMI Consortium Council members an opportunity to nominate and ultimately vote for those representatives to serve on the IACMI Consortium Council.
