Penso building new automated composites manufacturing plant
Penso Group Ltd. is currently building a new facility to manufacture automotive composites, as part of the company’s participation in the UK-funded Flexible Lightweight Architecture for Volume Applications (FLAVA).
Penso Group Ltd. has developed from a standing start in 2005 to one of the UK’s fastest growing manufacturers, currently employing 250 people. It is currently building a new facility to manufacture automotive composites, as part of the company’s participation in the UK-funded Flexible Lightweight Architecture for Volume Applications (FLAVA), supported by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC, Coventry, UK). Here’s a link to a recent CW item about FLAVA: /news/solvay-bentley-working-on-composite-biw-structures-.
The new automated composite body assembly plant will be a key contributor to improving the UK’s target to increase automotive composites productivity. Penso is committed to providing the industry with a solution for the increased demand for composites and develops its capabilities ready for the transition to zero emission and autonomous vehicles. It has been highlighted recently that the region is experiencing a slowdown in manufacturing; Penso is determined to turn this around.
Penso is the lead engineering partner of project FLAVA and is working as part of a consortium to enable the UK’s low-to medium-volume auto sector to implement and integrate carbon composite multi-material flexible modular solutions within Body-in-White structures.
