ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ and Gardner Business Media (Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.) have finalized the lineup for the one-day interactive webinar, “CW Tech Days: Bonding and Welding,” taking place April 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET. Through six industry expert presentations, the virtual event will delve into the plethora of challenges and misconceptions surrounding bonding and welding and present some of the technologies and developments that are progressing or adapting these composites manufacturing process.
Bonding and welding are two crucial processes for the effective joining of composite structures without the need for fasteners, though they are not interchangeable. Therefore, understanding each method’s potential — and equally their drawbacks — is necessary for determining when and for what applications each is well suited for.
CW has developed a comprehensive agenda for this purpose. The event will begin with an introduction by CW editor-in-chief Scott Francis, followed by six 30-minute presentations — four of the presentations target welding, and two bonding. The agenda is as follows:
- 11:15-11:45 a.m.: “Robot-based continuous ultrasonic welding for automated production of aerospace components” — Presented by Larks Larsen, head of assembly and joining technologies,
- 11:45-12:15 p.m.: “Enabling continuous ultrasonic welding of thermoplastic composites” — Presented by Jim Stratton, president,
- 1:00-1:30 p.m.: “Gap Fill Bonding,” — Presented by Taylor Santa, technical support specialist,
- 1:30-2:00 p.m.: “Non-thermal plasma-enhanced bonding of composites” — Presented by Sarah Montrowl, business development manager; and Ryan Robinson, Ph.D., senior applications engineer, Plasmatreat
- 2:30-3:00 p.m.: “Influence of welding processes, faying surface orientation and resin film on the mechanical properties for a single lap joint” — Presented by Alan Austin, advanced product development and research, R&T, thermoplastic composites, Spirit AeroSystems Inc.
- 3:00-3:30 p.m.: “Common myths and misconceptions about TPC welding” — Presented by Chris Crowshaw, Ph.D., principal research engineering, thermoplastic composites, Collins Aerospace
It is $49 to attend. to attend this webinar live or watch at your convenience on-demand! (An email with the recording will be sent to those who cannot attend the event.)
