VIDEO: Collins Aerospace optimizes thermoplastics for aircraft parts
Collins Aerospace explains how thermoplastics are integral to the company’s efforts to improve propulsion and reduce costs in aircraft manufacturing. Featured is a nacelle system that will help meet production demand of 80 aircraft per month.
During CAMX 2024, ÂÌñÏ×ÆÞ spoke with Michael van Tooren, senior technical fellow at Collins Aerospace (Charlotte, N.C., U.S.), a Tier 1 supplier in the aerospace industry.
Van Tooren explained that Collins is developing a thermoplastic composite nacelle as a pathfinder part to mature its capabilities.
The company is preparing for the next generation of single-aisle aircraft, which will demand very fast composite processes to meet the scheduled production demand of 80 aircraft per month.
