EON Laser embedded sensors designed for process, performance monitoring
The company says the lasers could replace conventional sensors in a range of industries due to their light weight, narrow thickness and durability.

EON Laser (Bursa, Turkey) is giving live demonstrations of its FBG sensors designed for smart composites.
The ultra-thin sensors can be embedded within the layers of a composite materials or placed on the material’s surface to enable users to more easily monitor changes in cure tracking, durability determination and simulation of potential stress level.
EON Laser says the advantage of these sensors is their potential to replace conventional sensors in a range of industries, including aerospace, defense, and wind energy, due to their light weight, narrow thickness and durability.
When a broadband light beam is sent over an optical fiber, fiber Bragg gratings reflect only a specified wavelength (Bragg Wavelength) and transmit the others. This reflected wavelength is directly interrelated with manufacturing characteristics of the FBG and guides the sensor to measure parameters such as strain, temperature, pressure, vibration and acceleration.
