SensXPERT, operating within Netzsch Process Intelligence GmbH (Selb, Germany) is introducing high-frequency dielectric analysis (HF-DEA) technology, which is said to break these barriers, offering a contactless solution for real-time monitoring of curing behavior and flow front in composite structures.
This portable, standalone device requires no coupling media or embedded sensors, making it ideal for hard-to-reach applications such as hydrogen pressure vessel curing, infusion processes and patch repairs in aviation. It enables accurate measurements through composite layers up to 40 mm thick. From large-scale composite parts to infusion processes, HF-DEA can detect defects such as dry spots and air gaps, ensuring consistent quality and reducing material waste.
The production of hydrogen storage vessels often involves curing in high-temperature ovens where direct monitoring is impractical. According to sensXPERT, HF-DEA reduces unnecessary safety margins by providing real-time data, shortening cycle times while maintaining the integrity of these critical components.
Moreover, aircraft maintenance and repair demand the highest levels of precision. HF-DEA offers a portable, contactless solution for guaranteeing proper curing during patch repairs, improving safety and reliability.
HF-DEA is both a technological breakthrough and a sustainability enabler. By reducing curing times and optimizing energy use, it can, for instance, lower the carbon footprint of hydrogen pressure vessel production by up to 20%.
