As a fully integrated supplier of epoxy systems, Olin Epoxy (Roberta, Ga., U.S.) provides a broad portfolio of solutions for challenging composites applications at the scale and supply security needed to support long-term growth within a company.
Olin says its Litestone Epoxy Systems offers a platform to meet industry conditions specific to design, fabrication and system integration requirements in a variety of manufacturing methods such as filament winding, pultrusion, resin transfer molding (RTM), infusion and hand layup. The company also spotlights Voraforce Epoxy Systems and notes it as a key enabling technology for high-throughput production of lightweight automotive composites for manufacturing processes such as high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM). In addition, Olin’s Airstone Epoxy Systems are said to contain solutions recognized by global wind blade manufacturers for performance and reliability.
Next-generation composites applications and product demonstrations are available at Olin’s CAMX booth. One featured demonstration focuses on composite pressure vessels, lightweight, corrosion-resistant technologies used for the deployment of more environmentally friendly fuels, such as hydrogen in applications like mobility, transportation and aerospace. Olin’s Litestone for filament winding incorporates patented, low-viscosity toughening technology to deliver a balance of processing ease and damage tolerance, which is said to enable cost-effective and reliable pressure vessel manufacture.
Olin also demonstrates composite rebar. Glass- and basalt fiber-reinforced composite rebar is a sustainable, corrosion-resistant, lightweight alternative to conventional steel rebar for demanding infrastructure applications. Olin’s Litestone for pultrusion offers a balance of high-throughput production and optimized chemical resistance without the use of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for production of durable, long-lasting fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) rebar.
The last of the demonstrations covers suspension systems. According to the company, lightweight composite suspensions enables the auto industry to improve fuel efficiency and achieve part consolidation using high-throughput manufacturing techniques such as HP-RTM. The Litestone and Voraforce portfolio for HP-RTM is said to deliver great cure speed for rapid manufacturing with the appropriate balance of thermal and mechanical properties following cure to the meet challenging demands.
